"UC San Diego’s External Relations division recently laid off a number of employees due to budgetary restrictions. A decision was made to provide outplacement assistance to employees receiving layoff notices. Several firms were considered before we decided to retain the services of Marcy Morrison with Careers with Wings. Specifically, we retained Marcy to facilitate a workshop for all affected employees based on her book, “Finding Your Passion: The Easy Guide to Your Dream Career,” and we also arranged to have her provide one-on-one career counseling sessions to these employees. Before the workshop, Marcy approached us and indicated that a professional with whom she partners, Phil Blair, would like to co-facilitate the workshop with her, and also be available for some of the one-on-one counseling. In addition, we included in the workshop Phil’s booklet, “Getting Back on Track: Strategies for Coping With Today’s Economy.”
Marcy and Phil have now been working with our employees for several weeks, and they are getting rave reviews. The feedback on their workshop was extremely positive, based on surveys that they distributed at the conclusion of the workshop. Participants commented favorably on their substantive content, the dept and breadth of information shared, creative exercises, and specific application tips.
